Serenity’s Giant Story February 26, 2013

It was a Friday evening and it was the beginning of my fall break. We had just got of school and I was trying to get a nap and my mom woke me up to go to my best friends party. That day I had spoken out of turn and got in trouble with my teacher. I told my mom and grounded myself for the week that school was out. I guess for my honesty God decided to truly bless me and I ‘m going to explain how.

A young elementary school girl recently said to me, "You are my new role model." The girl had been moved by a presentation I had given, in which I spoke about battery, bullies, bad people and pain. During the second half of my presentation, she heard me proudly speak about redemption, strength, self-worth and self-love.

Corner Store Conviction

When going to the corner store for a cold drink becomes a corner store conviction, you’ve got to write about it. Last night I stopped by my local corner store after a nearing midnight run in the park. I walked to the park, but asked my daughter to pick me up after my run. Once the park lights went out because of the timer telling them, “It’s late, park closed.” I decided to wait for my ride across the street at the corner store. The owner and I always have brief chats about my visit to Ghana, Africa and his birth place of Ethiopia, but last night was different.
